The Meaning of Power & Potential

Our Mission:

To improve the overall health and well-being of young people in Georgia to ensure a more powerful future for us all.

Our Vision:

We believe all children are entitled to a safe and healthy adolescence characterized by hope, respect and the opportunity for a productive future.

About GCAPP:

The Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential (GCAPP) was founded in 1995 as the then, Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention, when Georgia had the highest teen birth rate in the nation.  Today, that rate has declined by more than 60%. By working with school districts, health educators, and nearly 200 youth-serving organizations across the state, GCAPP reaches more than 40,000 young people a year with age appropriate, medically accurate sex education.  In 2012 GCAPP changed its name and expanded its mission to include healthy relationships, and physical activity and nutrition.   At the core of our work We empower young people with the information and motivation to improve their overall health and well-being so that they are better equipped to make healthy lifestyle choices – choices that tap into their power, potential, and hope for a successful future. Adolescence is often very challenging, particularly for those who are most vulnerable.  Whether it’s teen pregnancy prevention/sex education, physical activity and nutrition, or healthy relationships we help young people tap into their inner compass, navigate better decision making, and we help them succeed.
